In the Exodus story, the Israelites are being held captive in Egypt, and God rescues them, bringing them out of Egypt. What does this aspect of the Exodus story teach us about the gospel?
All of us go thru life looking for meaning, hope, and happiness. The world gives us many ways to get the life we desire, but they do not deliver. Those who have made it to the top report that there is nothing there. But God shows us the way to true life.
Most religions in the world have a set of requirements that must be met in order for us to reach the promised reward. Practices that must be done, rituals that must be performed, etc. But one religion gives the reward away freely, only requiring faith. so simple even a small child can do it.
Whether we believe in God or not, the Ten Commandments are foundational to the possibility of humans living together in a civilized manner. Without them, we would quickly devolve into a Mad Max or “as in the days of Noah” lifestyle. But is there more to the Ten Commandments than just being rules for us…
