King of Kings

Our church is starting the new year with fasting and prayer. There is so much to pray for in our world it seems a bit overwhelming. Poverty, hunger, war, depression, loneliness, violence, drug addiction, etc. – the people of Gaza, Sudan, North Korea, Iran, Ukraine, etc. – the list seems endless. Where do we start? And do our prayers really matter? And if they do, what should we pray for? How should we pray? Who should we pray for?

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. 13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God…… 16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”,

(Revelation 19:11-13, 16)

There are four men in the world today, that if they were born again, if they had a Damascus Road experience, the world would change dramatically for the good. Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Ayatollah Khomeini, and Kim Jong Un. Just imagine what the world be like if these four men were born again and acted on their faith. These four kings are disrupting the entire planet currently. Right now, the threat of World War 3 and possibly nuclear war may be as high as it has ever been, primarily because of these four men, these four kings.

The good news is that Jesus is the King of kings. Revelation 1:5 tells us that Jesus is “the ruler of the kings of the earth”. They are His kings. He rules over them. I propose that we ask Jesus to give each of these four men a Damascus Road experience, and that they would each be born again and repent. I know this is a big ask but just imagine if His answer is yes.

In Matthew chapter 17 verse 20, we read that Jesus said “…truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” I am asking you to pray a prayer of faith with me that Jesus will move these four mountains.

If you are willing to join me, please pray daily for these four men during the month of January, that Jesus would visit each one of them and bring them into the Kingdom of God. Just imagine if they would repent from their sins and begin to live godly lives, leading their countries in a new direction that is good for the rest of the planet. Please join me in praying for the salvation of these four men (and feel free to share this post with others who might join us in this prayer).

Lord Jesus, we come before you today and ask that You would visit Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Ayatollah Khomeini, and Kim Jong Un, and give them each a Damascus Road experience. We pray that they would be born again and would repent of their sins. We pray that China would cease to threaten Taiwan, that Iran would cease to threaten Israel and the United States, that Russia would pull out of the Ukraine and offer restitution for the damage they have done, and that North Korea would end its oppression of its citizens and open their borders, making peace with South Korea. Your word tells us that you are the King of kings, and we ask that you reel in four of your kings. We pray these things in Jesus name, amen.

Growing up Jewish, the extent of my knowledge about Jesus and Christianity was limited to what was on the rock album "Jesus Christ Superstar". Becoming born again in college, that changed. Jesus showed up, and my life has never been the same. I thank God every day for bringing me into His kingdom, and write these blogs to remember what He has shown me, and to share them with my four sons and others. I owe much to several pastors who have strongly influenced me over the years, including Arnold Fruchtenbaum, Robert Lewis, John Ortberg, John Eldredge, and most recently Tim Keller and David Levine. Many of my blogs are the 'aha' moments that I have had over the years from listening to their sermons and reading their books, and I owe them a great debt of gratitude. My prayer for you is that you will be blessed by these writings, that God will become more real to you, and that your relationship with Him will become more profound as you grow in His grace.
