Life is a full contact sport – engage it, run some plays, make some tackles, score some points, give it all you’ve got and enjoy it to the fullest. Don’t shy away but hit it head on and take it to the mat. Only then will you truly achieve all that God has in store for you. Be bold and courageous – do not fear, for it is God who is watching out for you. He will be your rear guard and your source of strength. So hit the hole and take off running full steam down the middle of the field, never looking back but keeping your eyes fixed on the goal of the upward call of Jesus Christ. If you get knocked down, get up and do it again. Run the race to win. I know you can do it.
The Race and the Goal
- 1 Corinthians 9:24: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
- Philippians 3:12-14: “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Boldness and Protection
- Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
- Isaiah 58:8: “…then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.”
Getting Back Up
- Proverbs 24:16: “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.”
